Personhood supporters win statewide NC GOP runoff races

RALEIGH   Supporters of a North Carolina personhood amendment swept to victory in all four statewide Republican contests in today's second primary election of 2012.

All four winners had answered yes to the following question:

Do you support a personhood amendment to the NC constitution like the Colorado 2012 Right To Life Amendment (http://www.coloradorighttolife.org/2012-wording) protecting each human being whether he or she is inside or outside the womb?

The four winners are as follows:

  • Dan Forest for NC Lieutenant Governor (67.89% of 149,406 votes with 97% of precincts reporting)
  • Mike Causey for NC Commissioner of Insurance (57.39% of 140,614 votes with 96% of precincts reporting)
  • Ed Goodwin for NC Secretary of State (54.48% of 136,296 votes with 97% of precincts reporting)
  • John Tedesco for NC Superintendent of Public Instruction (54.42% of 138,485 votes with 96% of precincts reporting)
